Sydney Travel Guide

Sydney is more than a city - it's a gateway to some of the most striking landscapes in Australia. Four regions, each within easy reach of the city and each worth a day of its own. These guides cover what's genuinely worth your time, the best season to come and how to see each place without losing half your trip to logistics

IN THE CITY

Sydney City

Sydney rewards people who get past the postcard. Yes, see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge — they earn the attention.

IN THE MOUNTAINS

Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are an hour and a half west of Sydney and worth every minute of the drive. Eucalyptus forest so vast it turns the air blue, dramatic escarpments, the famous Three Sisters, and villages full of cafes and galleries.

NORTH OF SYDNEY

Hunter Valley

The Hunter Valley is where Australian wine began — the first vines went in here, and the region has spent nearly two centuries getting good at it. Two hours north of Sydney, it's home to more than 150 cellar doors, long lunches with views over the vines, and a pace that's the opposite of the city.

SOUTH OF SYDNEY

Southern Highlands

The Southern Highlands are the quieter, gentler alternative to the better-known day trips — rolling green countryside, historic villages, cool-climate wineries and gardens, about 90 minutes south of Sydney. It's where Sydneysiders go for a slow weekend rather than a packed itinerary.
