The Story of Sydney, and when getting out of town it’s the South Coast Southern Highlands

  • Jen

Loves to travel, especially to Greece but really happy to go anywhere, walking in foreign cities, meeting new people, eating out, cooking and staying in, going to the movies and dogs, especially her own.

    Favourite Tour:

The Story of Sydney. As a born and raised Sydneysider I just love showing off our beautiful city.

    Favourite Restaurant:

The Apollo for its modern take on Greek food and Bar Reggio for great value Italian, buzzy vibe and it’s BYO.

    Must do in Sydney:

Any new visitor to Sydney must get out on the harbour at least once whether it be a harbour cruise, a tall ship or a simple ferry ride to Manly or Watson’s Bay.

  • Ben

Loves travel and adventure, meeting new friends and learning about other cultures, outdoor pursuits like hiking, surfing and scuba diving, finished with a red wine and a hearty meal.

    Favourite Tour:

The Story of Sydney, and when getting out of town it’s the South Coast Southern Highlands

    Favourite Restaurant:

I love a fancy meal as much as the next person but you'll most likely find me at a local pub enjoying the $15 meal of the day! Who doesn't love good value!

    Must do in Sydney:

The harbour and the beaches are Sydney 'must-do's'. Catch any one of our iconic Sydney Harbour Ferries and explore a local neighbourhood. Manly is a great option - it has it all.

  • Luke

Loves photography, travel (especially road trips in Europe and campervanning in Central Australia), Sydney's Northern Beaches, English pubs and Greek Tavernas.

    Favourite Tour:

Rags to Riches. There's nothing like walking on the same patch of earth as the people whose history you're sharing, bringing their stories to life in the very place those stories unfolded.

    Favourite Restaurant:

In the centre of the city, Gowings Bar & Grill and Restaurant Hubert. For the full Sydney spectacle, you can't go past Aria at Circular Quay or, for a fraction of the price with an even bigger view, a drink and a pizza at the Opera Bar.

    Must do in Sydney:

A round trip on the Manly Ferry is a must - and it must be the most spectacular public transport journey on earth. In Manly, walk the promenades on both the surf beach and the harbour beach. Along with breathtaking views and a great holiday vibe, there are countless waterfront cafes, restaurants and bars to sample.

  • Annaleen

Loves to travel, enjoys trying new cuisines with family and friends. Browsing local markets and watching tennis.

An animal lover, in particular our unique furry critters.

    Favourite Tour:

The Story of Sydney - a comprehensive look at our beautiful city.

    Favourite Restaurant:

ZUSHI - modern Japanese restaurant on the Waterfront at Barangaroo. Nicks Seafood at King Street Wharf or for something casual with a great view go to Squires Landing at Circular Quay. Make sure you try our wonderful Aussie wines as well.

    Must do in Sydney:

Catch our local ferry to Manly, where you will find harbourside restaurants and a beautiful beach. Or go for a walk through our Botanical Gardens, along the seawall with outstanding views of the harbour, which can be accessed alongside the Opera House.

  • Geoff

Loves most about life is the fact that it is so gloriously unpredictable. As Forrest said: "You never know what you're gonna get". And therein lies the beauty of it. But one thing which is a pretty safe bet here in Sydney is that just about every single day will reward you for time spent outdoors.

    Favourite Tour:

It's hard to go past the Story of Sydney as an introduction to this beautiful city, and for the history it provides of modern Australia. Outside of Sydney it's the north coast of New South Wales, especially the Port Stephens area, and the Hunter Valley wineries and golf courses, that get my vote.

    Favourite Restaurant:

Doyle's at Watsons Bay has been owned by the same family for almost 140 years, and still serves up outstanding seafood, in a beautiful location, week in and week out. Out in the suburbs the Asian fusion fare you get at Lane 198 at Gladesville rarely disappoints.

    Must do in Sydney:

So much of Sydney's lifestyle and culture revolves around the water, so seeing the city and surrounds from the harbour, and/or spending time at one or more of its beautiful beaches - either along the coast, or inside the harbour itself - is an absolute must.

  • Tim

Loves sharing all of life's ups and downs with his family. His wife, 3 adult children and newly arrived granddaughter are a constant source of fulfilment and joy.

    Favourite Tour:

I never tire of the Story of Sydney tour, but the Blue Mountains are also a highlight.

    Favourite Restaurant:

No one restaurant stands out but anything Mediterranean will do just fine!

    Must do in Sydney:

You must get onto the harbour. A trip to Manly on the ferry followed by a Sea Eagles NRL game would be perfect!
